With some much-needed rain arriving the lakes are looking great and fishing even better with the fish relishing the fresh cool water. The flies and methods have been varied from small dries fished static on the top to orange blobs stripped quickly lower down in the water.

Since the last report we welcomed the Wistlandpound Fly Fishing Club who had a fantastic days fishing with Dave Richards & Colin Combe both gaining first place with three fish limits weighing in at 9lb 8oz each. To read more about their day including the Big Rainbow caught click here for Wistlandpound Angler Wayne Thomas’s report.

Anchor Lake

Anchor Lake has been fishing incredibly well with the clear water and fresh rain providing great conditions for the fish. They have been taking a variety of patterns with the most popular being Buzzers, Bloodworms, Damsels and Blobs. Fish have been cruising the edges no more than approximately six foot from the bank. A very slow retrieve has still been the most successful.

Jason Davies & Ben Jones had a great day on Anchor Lake including Jasons 5 1/2lb Rainbow Trout. Jason said ‘Very enjoyable. You’re the best’ and Ben said ‘ Hard but very enjoyable. Best fishery around’.
