Remembering Alan Jukes

Last weekend the South West fishing scene lost one of its most memorable characters, Alan Jukes, who has sadly passed away.  I can only reiterate the fitting tribute posted here on the Bellbrook Valley website.  Alan will be very much missed.

Alan was always having a laugh, cracking jokes and he loved to take part in competitions, often winning our Troutmasters fish off.  Unfortunately, I lost touch with him during the last year after my move to London and have only just recently found out that he had fallen ill once again.  We had certainly missed seeing him appear on the lake as he regularly did on a Saturday morning.  The atmosphere here has never been quite the same since.

He will be remembered with a smile by the many who became his friend through a mutual love of fly fishing.  My own greatest memory of Alan is how tough he was and his willingness to enjoy life no matter what, perfectly summed up by his visit on a very cold winters day a few years ago when he managed to extract a double figure Trout from a lake full of ice!  Our thoughts & sympathy go out to Alans family.
